Inventory Management is sometimes referred to as as an art rather than a science.  Jon Schreibfeder has worked in the distribution and Inventory Management business for most of his life.  He is a well known speaker and author of a number of books on Inventory Management.  His straight forward approaches are outlined in the Schreibfeder Inventory Management Series below:

EXECUTION SYSTEMS
 
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is the one of the most talked about and written about topics in the retail and retail supplier arena.  This is predominantly due to several large retail chains who, after identifying the advantages of RFID in the retail space, have issued statements of direction and in some cases are mandating that the largest of their suppliers become RFID compliant in the near term.  The following white papers from Intermec, a leading radio frequency and RFID equipment provider, do a nice job of defining the technology and offering some recommendations for its implementation.
